Working in Nigeria

With Dr. Moses Akpanudo, minister, teacher and school administrator. Moses says education is key to Nigeria’s future. Nigeria’s Biafra War claimed more than 1 million lives, but it saved Moses Akpanudo’s soul. The teacher and business student fled his home in southern Nigeria after the civil war erupted in 1967. His wife, Jessie, had just given birth. They took refuge in the city of Ukpom, home of Nigeria Christian Bible College. After his baptism in 1970, Akpanudo moved his family to Nashville, Tenn., where he earned a master’s and doctorate in business at Vanderbilt University. Jessie received a bachelor’s in home economics from Lipscomb University. They returned to Nigeria in the late 1970s and began teaching. “Dr. Moses” and his family quickly became symbols of education in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom state. They established Obong Christian School, which educates more than 1,000 children in southern Nigeria. Now the Akpanudos focus on higher education. In 1997 they launched a College of Management and one year later started the Obong University of Nigeria.

Louis Rushmore

I’m in Guyana, South America for 35 days, and no it’s not a vacation. However, for me, participating in the annual, nationwide World Evangelism Media & Missions Workshops is better than a vacation. Some of the dearest friends in all the world live and labor for the Lord here. I’m charmed by the scenery picture along with this post, and I hope you find it delightful, too. Pictured about sunset is the Takutu River between Guyana and Brazil. We’ve completed three of the eight scheduled workshops plus one night of Gospel meeting. I’m privileged to labor alongside two of the finest Gospel preachers anywhere – both well-educated and experienced Guyanese presenters of God’s Word. We covet your prayers, and we’re thankful for brethren throughout the States helping to make my mission trip possible. God bless!
